ALBUM REVIEW: Day 26 – “Forever In A Day”

April 15, 2009

day26

Despite a pretty crazy and televised fight that seemed to last for days and days, Day 26 is still together. The fact that most of these MTV shows are filmed well in advance of when they air, I’m assuming things are all good with the group, but does that mean they made a good album?

Forever In A Day” starts out rough in my opinion. The first three tracks are so commercialized and generic that probably anyone could have made them. Has Day 26 lost their identity in favor of whats hot? Well, it isn’t until the fifth track “Stadium Music”, when this album finally starts sounding like it was made by Day 26. The following song “Bipolar” is my personal favorite on the album. It is probably the one song that saved this review. It’s a bit of an upbeat ballad, but the hook is crazy and just draws you in. “Girlfriend”, “Then There’s You”, and “Your Heels” are standout tracks as well.

Unfortunately there’s just not a lot to talk about with this album. These guys sure know how to sing, but I don’t like their track selection. Some of these songs are decent but very anti-climatic. I do feel that their debut album was much stronger than this project. Its still worth a listen though, as this is the only true R&B group that is still active in the industry; just don’t expect fireworks.
